Driving Under the Influence (DUI/OUI/DWI)

The #1 criminal charge for which I represent people is drunk driving. I've fought hundreds of DUI/OUI cases and understand what it takes to protect your ability to drive, avoid a criminal record, and keep you out of jail.

If you've been charged with drunk driving in Kansas, it's important to contact me right away in order to request an administrative hearing if you want to have any chance of holding on to your driver’s license, which of course you do. We only have 14 days from when you were pulled over to request a driver's license suspension hearing to preserve your driving privileges, which is independent of your criminal hearing. And, If you're pulled over, it’s usually not a good idea to refuse a breath test. Even if you haven't had a drop to drink, the penalties for refusing a breathalyzer test in Kansas are steep.

Drug Crimes

Drug crimes in Kansas are either misdemeanors or felonies. Both warrant skilled criminal defense representation because even simple possession can result in penalties you may not be considering, (especially if you're a student receiving financial aid or are here on a VISA.) I have extensive experience defending Kansans facing drug possession and other drug-related charges, including getting cases thrown out for illegal search and seizure.

Traffic Violations

Why hire an attorney for a traffic violation? Depending on the offense, you could be facing the loss of your license, high fines, and higher insurance rates. If you've received a ticket for driving while suspended, driving without insurance, reckless or careless driving, or any other traffic violation, contact me for help keeping it off your record.

Expungement

Having your criminal record wiped clean means that colleges, employers, and people outside the court system won't have access to your criminal history, even if they run a criminal background check. Depending on the type of offense, there are different waiting periods. Contact me for more details.
